~~Bold Architectural Antique Pennsylvania German Spice Cupboard~~
This all original piece has the most exceptional bold architectural elements. It was made similar to an Empire period chest. It has full (not half) turned decorative posts down both sides. The upper two and the wide bottom drawer protrude slightly from the center four drawers, which is another element of the Empire style.
The surface is absolutely beautiful and was obviously well cared for over the years. Very pleasing to the eye. Very showy!
There is that deep step down element surrounding the edges of each drawer, where you will find the original porcelain markers and knobs. The marker on the lower drawer is no longer present and one is missing a corner (shown in last photo). Very minor.
I was told by the previous owner, that this piece immigrated into Pennsylvania from Germany well over100 years ago. Purchased it from the original family, it has been in a private collection for quite some time.
It is 9 1/2 inches in height x 10 1/4 inches in width x 4 inches in depth. No repairs & no restoration. Hanging hardware is present.
Good condition. Circa: 19th c.
