~~Smaller Early Splint Basket - Bentwood Handle - PA. Dealers Collection~~

I am offering for your consideration a small early splint basket found in Pennsylvania and part of an interesting collection of early baskets that just recently belonging to a PA. dealer.

With a unique form it measures only 9 inches across the wrapped rim, 5 1/2 inches across the wrapped base and has 5 1/4 inch tall sides (not including the bentwood handle).

The surface shows nice original rich patina. The form is extraordinary.

This early basket has a few minor breaks and some missing rim wrap. With age, this typically happens in early baskets that were created with the finer splints. I make no apologies for this delightful piece and have set the price exceedingly low.

Circa mid 1800's. Berks County Pennsylvania origin.
