~~Rare Early Architectural Copper Leader / Drain Box~~

I am offering for your consideration a rare early copper leader box. This type of early decorative architectural piece was created to house the drain spout on an early Victorian house. Early examples are quite scarce in good condition and are extremely collectible.

This piece still retains traces of its original paint. The form is exceptional. The interior indicates good oxidation that has turned a robins egg blue, as copper is known to do.

It is 15 3/4 inches in height. The top measures 7 1/4 inches x 11 1/4 inches, while the very bottom measures 3 3/4 inches square. It is in very good condition.

Much of the time, when an early leader box is discovered, the top and bottom sections (that hold the drain spout) are missing, so I believe this piece is complete.

Originally found in Pennsylvania. Fairly priced at a fraction of the cost of a (copper) reproduction.
