~~Folky Early Tin Flatback "Horse" Cookie Cutter~~

I am offering for your consideration a large early Pennsylvania tin flatback cookie cutter of a horse. He has a smaller head and a larger body...folky form!

There is a nice large centered hole. Early oxidation, deep sides and a little surface rust.

A "Flatback" cookie cutter is the forerunner of the later ones made with a handle. They do not have a handle, nor did they ever have one! They were made with a hole, at times somewhat large, in the flat tin backer. They would have been handled by either the edge of the tin backer or the hole, depending on its size.

It is 4 inches tall and 6 inches wide. A substantial size! I believe there is a bit of more recent solder (as shown), though understandable since it was utilitarian.

Circa: 19th c. Berks County Pennsylvania origin.
