~~Extraordinary 19th c. Tin Flatback Cookie Cutter - Peafowl~~

I am offering for your consideration an early Pennsylvania tin flatback cookie cutter. The peafowl is likely the most desirable form to come out of Pennsylvania. This one has exceptional detail for it's diminutive size. Showy!!

There is a nice large centered hole and the early oxidation is wonderful.

A "Flatback" cookie cutter is the forerunner of the later ones made with a handle. They do not have a handle, nor did they ever have one! They were made with a hole, at times somewhat large, in the flat tin backer. They would have been handled by either the edge of the tin backer or the hole, depending on its size.

It is 3 1/2 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide. A sweet size...but power packed! No repairs & no restoration.

Circa: 19th c. Berks County Pennsylvania origin.
