~~Early Folky Apothecary Spice Box - Old Red Paint - 8 Drawers & Rare Door ~~

I am offering for your consideration an early apothecary / spice cupboard.

This piece is truly exceptional for a variety of reasons. Drawer size and placement factors in because there are six of equal size over two larger ones to the right. You will also find the rarely found fully hinged door on the lower left side. All of the original porcelain knobs are present and in good condition, which is usually not the case.

The gorgeous old red paint is nicely worn, as expected and has good honest aged patina. Since paint can be speculative, I can honestly say that this piece has been in a private collection for almost 40 years. Prior to the existing ownership, it was purchased, exactly as you see it out of an estate in Washington County Pennsylvania. It is first coat paint, with no alterations.

With its old painted warm worn surface and bold size, it is in a very good state of preservation. It is 19 1/2 inches tall, 11 inches wide and 4 inches deep. No repairs & no restoration.

There are a couple of minor issues that I will mention. One drawer has an old worn break (as shown). There are three evenly spaced holes on either side of the top surface of the cupboard (as shown). It appears that there was perhaps, at one time, a small decorative element, that is long gone.

What an absolute find!
