~~Exceptional Early Red & White PA. Childs Quilt - A Rare Find!~~
It measures 49 inches x 56 inches (nearly a perfect square) and is in excellent condition.
It was hand stitched & quilted as well as being partially treadle sewn.
Although not entirely familiar with the pattern, I believe that it is a variation of the pinwheel. It looks absolutely spectacular when hung!
Although the red fabrics are in excellent condition and are by no means 'worn', the maker must have incorperated two dye lots (for lack of a better term). The reason I mention this is for the sake of accuracy and because some of the 'reds' appear a bit lighter.
Approximately circa mid 1800's. Berks County Pennsylvania origin.
